TOC and TNb can be either separate stand-alone instruments or combined as one TOC-TN instrument using the same core components for both analysers. We use extremely sensitive detectors for both TOC (NDIR) and TNb (vacuum chemiluminescence). These detectors provides about an order of magnitude more sensitivity than most of our competitors enabling measurements at low ppb levels. This sensitivity also allows the instrument to operate using small injection volumes, increasing measurement speed and considerably prolonging catalyst life.
Because the Thermalox® instruments are thermal oxidation system, difficult to oxidise materials are not a problem, unlike with UV or wet chemical systems.
Saline and particulated samples as well as samples containing humic and fulvic species are easily oxidised and handled by the Thermalox®.
For Isotopic ratio measurements our Thermalox® TOC/TN analyser has also been successfully hyphenated with Sercon's 20-20 Mass Spectrometer, something only previously achieved routinely with a persulphate TOC analyser.
